How Much Are Those Mercedes Going to Cost?

Another design assignment I completed was “Design and Invoice.” For this one I wanted to relate it to The Wire episodes we watched this week. Using word  I created the invoice. First, I considered the different items to put on the invoice. Now I know the job Ziggy did for George Glekas was an inside job and he would not create an invoice for it, but I went ahead and did. First, I tried to figure out how many Mercedes Ziggy was stealing for the Greek. I am estimating 5 but from the scenes I re-watched they never said an exact number. George just showed Ziggy a few pictures of the colors he wanted. I also looked at the current MSRP of the Mercedes S Series cars that Ziggy is stealing. They currently start at roughly $95,000 (I would to have one of them). Next, considered the supplies Ziggy used in the scenes to conduct the operation. He bought wire cutters and he used shipping containers to transport the vehicles. I also estimated prices for labor and the shipping costs of the containers. Ziggy and George agreed on a rate of 20% for Ziggy’s pay. I estimated that in the early 2000’s the MRSP of the cars may be around $70,000. Multiplying $70,000 by the 5 cars equaled $350,000. Then I multiplied by %20 to get the total cost. For the invoice purposes I broke up the $70,000 into the different items but in the end made sure it equaled the amount Ziggy was suppose to be paid. For a little added detail I added a description on the invoice as well as signatures. The signatures were generated online. I made George’s look more business like and Ziggy’s a little more childish because that is how I view both characters.
