WE 09-14-14, Live from the Roofs, #ds106, #wire106

Checking in this Sunday evening to fill everyone in the week here from my view of the roof.  This week I feel like I got a lot accomplished despite illnesses and family issues with one of my children.

My first assignment, I completed a 5 star assignment.  This was a very useful assignment that could carry over into other classes and my kids could take advantage of in their classes.  I created a Timeline JS going through 11 photographs taken from Season 2 episode 1 by using the Google Docs template that was set up. This template, once completed, will create a timeline progression through the photographs and will add descriptions to each photograph that you have added in one of the columns. There were photographs taken from the episode to describe a reoccurring presence of certain colors used in the episode.  Red and blue were used to symbolize so much in this episode.  In each scene of red there has been a link with disobedience, or crime, or death.  In each scene of blue, we have seen a link to the police and to the some what “good guys”.  Not everyone in blue is a good guy but each have some form of goodness in them regardless if that is due to their dedication to their job or their unknown innocence of what really was going on….

My other assignment this week was a triple troll epigraph.  At first, I was confused on the assignment but I later understood the significance of the third character to make it a “triple” troll.  (Thanks Paul :))  I used the quote from McNulty for this episode 1, tied it to a scene between Cedric and Marla Daniels, and labeled the quote as said by Bubbles.  This quote, “They can chew you up, but they gotta spit you out.”, could have been said by either Marla to Cedric talking about how he is being treated and Bubbles could have easily said this quote to Walon talking about getting out of the game even at his age.

My last encounter of the week, was trying to add Categories and Subcategories to my Menu.  I went through all of the information but things seemed just a little different on my screen but I think that was due to the Theme that I have installed.  I think I finally mastered it.  (At least the proper titles are up there on the menu now. :))

I am learning so much in this class.  It is all knowledge that will help me so much in my future.  Some of it may just be fun little movies like .gifs but learning how to get this website going is definitely priceless.

Until next week,

Melinda
