Back to Audio!

This week was back to audio. Audio is becoming a lot easier for me, the practice is beyond beneficial. I enjoyed doing the assignments, while some were more challenging than others. I am fairly impressed with what I learned how to do.

The Wire

Season 2, Episode 12:

I did not see this episode coming… I was surprised to see Frank get killed, but yet I know I shouldn’t have been. Once everyone saw Frank get pulled up, I loved how the entire dock workers were there to surround him, signifying their unity.

The commentary on this episode really brought a lot of things into the light, that I did not notice before hand. Again, proving how much audio really does matter. I never noticed how the opening scenes did not have any audio, in retrospect, that really is what made it so powerful. Hearing what they did behind the scenes, truly opened my eyes to many things.

Season 3, Episode 1:

The audio effects put in this episode were astonishing, it really tells a whole story in its own. One thing I noticed, was when the game in the prison was going on, the sounds reminded me of the basketball game in the earlier season. Then it resembled later in the show, when Bunk and McNulty are at a professional baseball game. I loved how these scenes paralleled each other.

Another thing I liked was when things get intense, the volume is increase. For example, when Bubs hit the car with the shopping cart, you could hear the gun get cocked and placed to his head. Also, when the pay phone was being used. You can clearly know, without seeing, that is a pay-phone, which may be symbolic.
