Risk checkers!

Game MashupToday I did a daily create for a game mashup and decided to use two board games that did not work at all together. I chose Risk because it is the most complicated board game I have ever come across, and Checkers because it is the easiest. Risk reminded me of the Wire as well because of how complicated the show is and nods to the complication of chess, which the show focuses on as a metaphor for the hierarchy of the cop and drug dealers worlds. Checkers is also reminiscent of the use of chess in the Wire because the dealers actually play checkers with chess pieces until D’Angelo tries to explain the game to them. This game mashup symbolizes all of the hierarchies in the Wire because it has simple game pieces being played within the overly complicated system of Risk, which represents that drug war.
