I’m getting down to the wire (LOL get it?) on this post so I will keep this short and sweet. I can’t believe this semester is almost over. What a ride ds106 has been. I’m happy to say I have learned so much about digital story telling. Here’s my work from these past two weeks:

Daily Creates (4 total)

Mashup Assignments (10 stars)

Evolution of Robin Williams

For this mashup assignment (4.5 stars) I chose 11 movies that starred Robin Williams to show the evolution of his career.

I found the movie clips on YouTube and used Clip Converter to download them.

I uploaded the clips in Window Live Movie Maker and trimmed them down. I added a title slide, fades for the changing scene and captions to show the title of the movie and the year.

The whole process is very simple just time consuming.

I uploaded the final movie to Vimeo, go HERE to check it out.

Inappropriate Laughter

For this assignment (3.5 stars), I used a scene from season 4 where Omar is taking a trip to the store to buy Cheerios (and some drugs). I used Windows Live Movie Maker to create this video. I found the scene on YouTube and downloaded it using ClipConverter. I uploaded it to Windows and trimmed the video to where I wanted it.

I used 4 laughter clips I used from freesound.org to create a comedic effect to the scene

Remix Assignment

This was my remix assignment.

Cat breading was pretty popular, where you put a cat’s face in bread. But my challenge for the remix was to do the opposite of whatever the assignment was…. so this happened.

(No cats were harmed in the making of this assignment, only slightly agitated)

Final Project (6 stars)

The first assignment I chose to do was Emoji This. I took 5 common emoji faces and then took pictures of Daniels expressing those emotions.

Simply using paint, I copied pictures from Google and then used “different” facial expressions of Daniels.

First we have Daniels’ serious face. He’s pretty serious most of the time.

Next is his crush face, for when he’s talking to his wife or as of lately, Rhonda.

Then we have Daniels’ silly face. He’s so silly.

My favorite, is his surprised face. Ah!

And last, his happy face. Don’t you love that smile?

For this assignment I used this picture of Daniels to age him.

I uploaded the photo into Gimp to make the edits.

To make his face a bit droopier, I used the IWarp tool. This gave the effect of the baggy eyes and double chin.

Then I used the airbrush tool to give him a grey beard and eyebrows.

Creating the wrinkles was getting very frustrating so I decided to just draw them in with pencil and use the blur tool to soften them out.

Here’s how it turned out!

The edits seem quite simple but this took me forever! I’m rusty on my GIMP skills.
