Home Blitz

I had a lot of fun with the Designblitz. I left for the weekend to handle some business so I decided to do mine at my house. It was fun paying attention to all of the little things that you never really think about while your just sitting around the house. For some of the concepts I have more than one example just because it was fun.

Here are the concepts I chose to do:

Color:

Each of these items that were all around my house all have colors that have significant meanings to them. I chose the picture of my graduation cap because the red represents my past as a high school student and all of the accomplishments that I made back then. The blue, silver, and white represent the present and everything I’m doing in my undergraduate career. The UNC flag was significant because it’s my favorite NCAA DI basketball team. I am a die hard Tar Heel fan so when I saw that I had to take the picture. The UVA pennant represents one of my loved ones, my brother. He graduated from UVA in the spring and I love him dearly so I decided to take that photo. The Redskins transformer also belongs to my brother and the team colors remind me of him every time I see them.

Unity:

For unity I also went symbolic. This picture is of a few of my trophies from my youth along with a couple of cords I wore at graduation. The reason I decided to put them under the unity category is that the all come together to give a little bit of my background. Whether it was hard work and dedication from sports to diligent studying in high school they are all attributes that help make me who I am today.

Typography:

The typography category was probably my favorite. I’ll explain what I think the fonts mean to the overall piece they come from. For the diploma plaque I think the font represents elegance because it’s almost like a pinnacle in education. For some people graduating from high school is everything. Several people that I know worked as hard as possible to finish high school and have no thoughts about continuing their education. The words on the planner just make everything light and simple they wanted to be gleeful and I think they captured it. Obviously the BIG on the eraser just emphasizes the size of the eraser. Lastly, the way Watch Dogs is spelled kind of represents technology and what you get to do as the character in the games. The static like look gives it that cyber edge that the game needs.

Balance:

This T.V. on the small shelf was so amusing to me. I think what made me think so much about the balance was the width of the T.V. compared to that of the shelf. As obvious as it is the balance comes from the centrality of the shelf. I loved taking and thinking about this picture.

I enjoyed doing this designblitz and had a lot to think about while I was at home. This was fun and I like the way this was incorporated into the class. Sorry that the pictures are sideways I tried to turn the but I didn’t know how. I hope you enjoy this project
