“Just Buckle Up Before The Ride”

I enjoyed the commentary on episode 12 of season two provided by Thorson and Zimny. One of the biggest takeaways I have from listening to them was about the focus on eyes. I felt that they were saying that the focus of the camera on the characters’ eyes was portraying their emotions. It was done so well that the actors didn’t really have to say anything for the audience to understand and empathize with them. There were many moments when the camera would go directly from one character to another showing and expression on their face that just explained how they were feeling. One thing that threw me off was when Thorson was talking about two characters having the same eye level. I understood what she was saying, I just didn’t know what it was contributing to the episode. The two of them kept talking about the motion of the camera and it’s position. I felt that they were saying that a lot of the messages that the producers and directors wanted us to see in this episode came solely from the characters actions and not their words. They were talking about Daniels and his wife and how they were going through something in their marriage but it wasn’t told to the audience. It was something that we all could but it didn’t have it’s own segment in the show. After listening to them I feel that the directors and producers did a great job of relaying messages to the audience without actually giving a lot of time to them.
