For my second design assignment I decided to do a typography poster (3.5 stars). I decided to use lyrics from one of my favorite artists Joey Bada$$. The song title is waves. I wanted to use Joey’s lyrics because the majority of his songs have substance. I wanted the lyrics that I used to mean something. Music is something that I take extra serious so these lyrics actually being life-centered and faith based mean something. The lyrics to me mean that no one is excluded from the struggle of everyday life. We all have our own ways coping with stress and ways of making it through the rough times so that’s why I decided to use these lyrics.

When I first thought about doing this assignment I didn’t know whether I should use popular lyrics or not. After thinking about it for a while I decided that it should be something that matters to me. While participating in the class activity it allows the class to gain some knowledge of me and what type of person I am. That was the overall deciding factor that caused me to go with the lyrics from Waves.

I used Microsoft office to create my poster. I wanted to do something original so I knew that other people would find online sources but if I did mine straight off of word I would be different. It was a little difficult and took me a while because I wanted it to be perfect or close to it. I used fonts that were available and messed around with the font color and sizes. The symbols on the top and bottom actually come from two fonts that are available on Microsoft office and I though that using them would make me unique. The worst part about using Microsoft office is that you can’t save it as an image document so I had to take a picture on my phone, upload it to flickr, and then download it to my computer. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed this assignment and I hope you enjoy my finished product.
