What Qualifies as Digital Storytelling?

After reading Alexander’s article, I have decided that the tumblr bot site “Scenes from The Wire” and “Facebook’s The Wire” are in fact examples of digital storytelling. In his article, Alexander writes about how social media sites such as blogs, Twitter, and Facebook are all forms of diaries. I believe The Wire’s tumblr and Facebook site are diaries of the TV show. Diaries can come in all forms. Alexander shares that even sites where you can only post photos count as digital storytelling. This is evidence that the tumblr site tells stories too. Although the GIFs are short and someone who has not seen The Wire would not understand the meanings behind them, it still tells small stories of The Wire. While the Facebook page is a bit of a stretch in my opinion, I think it would still count as digital storytelling. Some of the posts on the Facebook page are advertisements for merchandise; however, many of them are pictures from scenes with corresponding quotes. I think Alexander would qualify these websites as digital storytelling modems based on his definition from his article.
