10 Down; Weekly Summary

Week 10 has been jam-packed with stuff. I was a little overwhelmed by all the work but i managed to complete everything. Let’s just cut to it. Here’s everything i completed!

Daily Creates: 2

Monday

We were instructed to do 2 daily creates. I started early and on Monday i completed the “Signature Style” daily create. I interpreted this assignment on my own because it wasn’t very clear. But with a name like Carmela, i was able to do this. I mean, who names their kids Carmela anymore? Here’s my post!

Sunday

For my final daily create i did the “Sleepy Twitter Tuesday”. I had the perfect opportunity to use a picture of my friend’s baby! He’s so cute and i HAD to. Here’s my post and the picture below!

Inspirations: 2

Again with the inspiration? It’s like Groom is trying to inspire us or something. I think it’s good to look back on people’s work and see how they’ve inspire us. It’s like commenting!

Monster:

My first inspire post was about John Meadow’s “Album Cover” assignment. I just really thought this was creative and cool. The two words i like to describe DS106. He really used his imagination and it just turned out awesome! I give him more credit here.

Trolling:

My second inspire post was inspired by Melinda’s “Triple Troll Epigraph” post. It was beyond clever. I mean, trolling isn’t as easy as everyone thinks it is. Right? Right. My post about it is here ;)

M:

This clip was very interesting. I enjoyed writing about how Lang could tell us so much with such little. It was even more interesting because i’ve never seen this film before. I felt that that gave me a better perspective. My post about it is here! You’ll see i get really into it so don’t be scared to read all of it! It’s gold. I promise.

Look, Listen, Analyze:

This assignment took me a little bit of time. The hardest part was picking the right scene to use. I wanted to make it easy and hard on myself. I ultimately chose the scene where Avon and Stringer fight. It was a perfect example of some of Ebert’s concepts. You’ll want to read my post so PLEASE click here.

Video Assignment Bank: 10 Stars

This was by far the most intimidating part of this week. I’m not very educated on video editing. I’ve struggled with other assignment banks like design and audio so video made me squirm a bit. But, i did it so i’m proud!

Musicless Music Video 3.5 stars

I started off with a simpler one. At least that’s what i thought when i was getting in to this. I chose the “Musicless Music Video” assignment. You should know by now that i love music so this was a given. I decided to use the music video for Talking Head’s “Naive Melody” and put the audio for Arcade Fire’s cover of the same song. I did this because i thought it would be really cool and creative. I was right. At least in my own opinion i was! Here’s my post about it here and the video below!

HS Memories: 4.5 stars

My second assignment was the “HS Memories” assignment. This made me happy because i got to look back at my old high school pictures and they brought back various memories. I also used a song from my all time favorite band so this was a total plus. My post about this is here but please don’t cry when you watch the video. Hold back the tears!

Viral Video Re-enactment: 3.5 stars

For my final video assignment of the week, i chose the “Viral Video Re-enactment”. This was another fun and creative assignment. There wasn’t much editing involved but the actual filming took some time. We ran through this a couple times before filming it. The final product turned out really well for a makeshift setting and such. The scene i chose came from Season 3 Episode 10 of The Wire where Marlo shoots Devonne, the girl who assisted Avon in trapping Marlo, as she leaves her house. This event caused a big ripple effect to the show which is why i chose it. My own post about this goes into more detail here. Enjoy!
