Audio From Now On

Week 7 happened in a blur. This week has been rough with all classes because of bloody midterms. They suck, don’t they? That’s why this week went by so freaking fast. I was grateful to have ds106 as a relaxer. Audio is by far my favorite aspect of ds106 so far. I enjoy Design but dang, that is time consuming and almost always frustrating for me because i like stuff to be perfect. All in all, week 7 was fun. I loved my audio assignments and i loved The Wire, like always. Let’s see what i did!

Daily Creates

This week was light on the daily creates. We only had to do 2, which was a disappointing because i love them! I mean, it doesn’t mean i HAVE to ONLY do 2, but… i did. ANYWAYS, these daily creates were fun and interesting. I started on them earlier in the week.

Wednesday

EVIL! That was the title of my blogpost for monday’s daily create. For this TDC, we had to demonstrate/display how evil guinea pigs truly are. To be honest, this TDC was freaking random. I’ve never seen nor touched a guinea pig, so i feel like this was a little unfair to display them as evil. Oh, well. I found a really cute picture online and came up with a evil backstory for them. There, they’re evil. What more do you want from me?!?!

Thursday

Ah, on a roll. The next day i did another daily create and this was it. Considering this class is basically based off of The Wire, this daily create was freaking awesome. I just wish people who actually have no idea what this show was would read my description because i personally find it hilarious. If you didn’t catch my post about it, i’ll post below what my is NOT The Wire!

The popular reality show is getting some fame. For those of you who have neither seen nor watched The Wire, It’s a spin off of The Real World. It consists of 6 strangers doing drugs under one roof. Yeah, you read right. DOING DRUGS! There are no rules, no parents, and no consequences. The goal of the show is to see who drops dead first. Or, who stays alive the longest. TWIST! There’s a narc, but who is the narc? He/She could be dead or still alive. Are they even doing the drugs? Find out for yourself and watch The Wire

Promo For Our Radio Show

Like i constantly repeat in my post about this promo here, our radio (John, Ien, and Jeremey) will revolve about The Science Behind The Wire. This includes the wire taps and the surviellance. I made a cute little promo poster that had phones and cameras on it, along with a test tube because that’s what science is. Test tubes. I also went with a science-type font. Also, to make it more science-y, the background is green. I’m actually proud of this little poster so don’t laugh. IT IS BEAUTIFUL.

Audio Assignments:10 Stars

Ah, yes, the core of Week 7. More audio. I enjoy doing audio assignments. For some reason, they just flow better with me because i never have too many problems with Audacity. This could mean that i’m doing it all wrong and my life sucks. But, i try to ignore that option. Let’s see my beautiful assignments now!

Greatest Hits Storytelling: 3.5 stars

Click on the title above, that’s the assignment! We have to create a story with songs from our favorite artists. Well, Green Day is pretty awesome, so i chose them. I created this awesome story with the following songs in order: Welcome To Paradis, Longview, She, When I Come Around, and Good Riddance. The story was a little stretched but my post about it really brings it together. It’s a classic “coming of age” story which will ALWAYS be relatable to us.

Music Mashup :3.5 stars

You probably think this would be making a sick mashup of awesome songs and it all being on cohesive beat. WRONG. To me, this was kind of the opposite. Except, this was pretty awesome. What we had to do was make two very distinct sounds/type of music into one. I went with the somewhat obvious extreme ends: Classical music and rap. I chose Mozart’s symphony #40 and Jay-Z’s “99 Problems”. I think the product was actually really funny and i enjoyed making it. Definitely worth it. Here’s my post about it.

Cheesy Radio Ad For Your School: 3 stars

Out of all the audio assignments i did, this one was the most fun. My post about it here makes that a bit obvious. I created an actual cheesy ad for UMW ad then a movie ad for “She’s The Man”. I plan on using both of these commercials for the radio show so what a kill. I added some fun audio int he background of each ad just to spice it up and make it cool. It wasn’t as easy as you would think but hey, that’s the ds106 life, right? Here they are!

Commentary On The Commentary

As specified by Groom over twitter, we needed to comment on the commentary. I actually enjoyed this. I’ve listened to episode with commentary from directors and it usually bores me. But then again, i’m not really analyzing the show, so. With The Wire, it  was really helpful to hear the comments. Like Ralston’s interview, there’s a purpose for everything. The shots, the dialogue, and the sounds. EVERYTHING is important. So i made quite a long post about it here. So read it and comment on my commentary about the commentary. But try not to get too confused..

Comments

I tried to keep up with more commenting and i think i accomplished that. Here are some of  my awesome comments!

– I loved Lauren’s Spooky Beats. Perfect for Halloween.
