Blitzkrieg Bop

Photoblitz! I know the title really has no relevance to this assignment but that was the first thin to pop in my head when i read the “photoblitzer” assignment. I was kind of confused when i read this assignment. 20 minutes to take only what, 7 photos? Really? Then i realized i live in a dorm. So these pictures would be a lot harder to capture than i thought. Although this assignment only took me 15 or so minutes, it was difficult! After reading over the directions like twice, i took a stab at it. Only after changing the assigned photos twice because the first set i got was almost impossible to do.

Photoblitz Assignment

Pictures:

Alright, so like the directions said, i took a screenshot of the assigned photos so i could not only keep track of time, but also to post this in my blog! I’m currently attempting to work with the HTML code but it’s not working so there’s another reason to screenshot this. Now, let’s get to my pictures (which are all uploaded to my Flickr account here) !

“Make A Photograph Of a Plastic Object”

This was fairly easy. Well, the actual task was simple because my whole room is filled with plastic. What i found difficult was how do i take a picture of a plastic object and make it look cool? The answer: I can’t. I did try, though! Instead of taking a picture of just one plastic object, my picture had about 3 plastic objects. I was going to take a picture of just my water bottle but i looked over at my room mate’s desk and she had three plastic objects (bowl, soda bottle, water bottle) in one area so i snapped that. Not necessarily a pretty picture, but definitely accurate!

“A Photo That Communicates an Abandoned Or Discarded Feeling”

When I read this, i laughed to myself because before i started working on this project, i gathered all my unwanted papers from taking notes and just overall trash and put them on top of my bio book. I decided to take a picture of that pile because they were literally discarded. If i hadn’t put them to the side, i would have been lazy and taken a picture of my trash can.  If you know me personally, i lack creativity… But! I did try with this picture. At least i think i did.

“Make A Beautiful Photo of Something Rusted or Crushed”

It’s like this assignment was made for me. Prior to this assignment, i had cereal and milk for breakfast. Pops cereal to be exact. Since I ran out of milk from the supermarket, i was forced to go to the Nest and grab a small carton of milk. Not to give you a play-by-play of my day but after i drank that milk, i crushed the carton because that’s my favorite thing to do. The problem i had with this picture was making that crushed carton of milk look beautiful. I didn’t have any flowers on hand or glitter, so i moved the crushed carton of milk next to my owl cup. Owls are my favorite animal and i actually do think they’re beautiful, so why not? Crushed milk cartons and owls are like best friends.

“Make A Photo of A Scene Looking Out A Window”

What do all dorm rooms have in common? Windows! Some have pretty views and others of the neighboring building. Luckily, i have a pretty view. Outside my window are a couple of trees and flowing street lamp. I didn’t have to do much for this photo other than turn off all the lights in my room to avoid a glare. Out of all my pictures for this photoblitz, this one is the prettiest.

“The Dusky Path Of A Dream…” Tagore. Photograph That Idea

This was the hardest picture to capture that i actually could capture. If that makes sense… My first instinct was to take a picture of the dream catcher above my bed. Then i realized that i might be taking the idea too literal. The picture i used for the task above was going to be for this because i was stuck on this. Instead taking “dream” too literal, i zoned in on the “dusky path’ idea. It was dark outside at the time i did this assignment so why not walk outside and try to figure something out? This is what happened. It was a little too dark outside.. But i had the right idea, right? Right.

Make A Silhouette By Aiming The Camera Into Bright Light

Meh.. The picture above looks like it’s for this task. Need not worry.. I have an even better picture. What i did for this was just push my camera to the brightest light i had in my room. Thank goodness it’s a fluorescent light which was above my sink. This is my second favorite picture.  It would look even cooler if it had a bit of color, maybe some glow sticks.

Now, you must be thinking “Carmela, you forgot the final task!”. I did not. Oddly enough, i don’t have any pictures in my room. I never liked the idea of bringing photos to my dorm because when i would look at them, i would feel sad because i missed those people in the pictures. Point being, I had no two photos :( My room-mate had one photo of her family but that was it. None that could really fit “A Pair Of Photos Which Show Some Same Of Symmetry Between Different Objects” Maybe it was the actual task that confused me. I had 5 minutes to spare when i got to this one and i just couldn’t figure it out. Maybe if i come back to it, something will come to mind. But there you have it! PHOTOBLITZ!

TIME!
