Brown town is back

Milton Glaser once said, “There are three responses to a piece of design – yes, no, and WOW! Wow is the one to aim for.” So for the Designblitz assignment, I at least chose 4 of these concepts. One of the pictures I took was during Eid today. Four out of the five the pictures I took was when I took a late night walk with my roommate, Justin, and I’m usually good at taking pictures but it was late at night so the pictures to me I don’t think it’s that good.  To me this is like my no way face:

I love taking good pictures. I made an exception that night that my pictures wouldn’t be that great. You know no one is perfect. That’s a fact. But anyways, here below is what I took pictures of that night and on Eid today:

Rhythm:

I’m going to be honest here, I really wanted to do rhythm because to find a picture that matches it would be interesting. I was thinking so hard then suddenly I realized that the water fountain was a good one to use. I took a picture of the water coming out of the fountain. I thought it would symbolize of how the way the water is going in rhythm in the same arc pattern as it is going up repeatedly. The harder you press to get the water high, the higher the arc the water will go like the picture below. Although the easier you press, the lower the arc the water will be but the thing is the water is still going out of the fountain in a pattern. No matter the amount of force you use to get the water to come out of the fountain, the water will still have the same flow going in rhythm. Rhythm basically means to keep it going in a pattern, the water fountain represents that. It’s pretty cool.

Symmetry:

As I came back from my late night walk, I know that in my residence hall, Randolph, that there are tons of symmetry. The doors are symmetrical, the designs mostly are symmetrical, basically there are lots of things that are the symmetrical. Like in my picture below, you could see like the doors are symmetrical, the design is symmetrical, especially the way the architect designed this. The symmetrical of this is indescribable in my residence hall. The way they build this residence hall is really cool to make almost everything symmetrical.

Balance:

As my roommate, Justin, and I always take our late night walk, Justin usually gets on top of the Jepson water fountain and tries to balance himself. Suddenly an idea came to my head. The way Justin is in the picture I told him to freeze so I can take the picture so I can show he’s balancing himself. To me, I know that the pressure Justin is using on both of his feet while walking on top of the water fountain because when he tries to balance himself, he walks like he’s walking on a thin line on the fountain just for fun. Balance is trying to maintain standing on top of an object or something else and that is what Justin tried to do on the fountain.

Form/Function/Message:

I could have done other concepts but I thought this would be better because the rock on campus always gets painted and is always creative in some way that tries to send a message of it’s creativity. When Justin and I walk pass by the rock, I was just thinking I had to take a picture of it because the way it was painted, I really want to give credits to the people who did it. It’s an awesome design and the creativity of it is telling me something about in October that there will be something happening soon. It will be an awesome time. I like that they put Rocktoberfest instead of Oktoberfest. I’m going to be honest, I really don’t know what both are but I know it’s awesome. Some of my friends told me about it.

Unity:

I was going to post this post without unity a few days ago but I thought about it and was like “Nah” because I had my three best friends coming home for the weekend. They especially came back Eid which was basically today (Saturday, October 4th). Unity is basically like being together, joining into one like a union. My three best old friends, we like to use the term “Brown town” because the Brown town is officially back in South Riding on October 4th, 2014. Let’s say it’s our “gang name”. Plus we were the only four Bengali guys that were in the same grade and went to the same school for at least seven years.

I’m pretty sure that there aren’t any Bengali kids that had the same way as us. Eid was really busy for all of us like we went to different people’s houses but I found the time to see all three of them and I couldn’t be any happier to see all of them. Like I said before, Unity is basically like being together and my three best friends and I got back together. That’s the representation of unity right there. Even though we weren’t together at once, I got a chance to hangout with them during Eid. I combined all three of the pictures into one picture. I was just thankful to hangout with them because they’ve been with me since third grade at least and look where we are. We’re college freshmans at different universities. It’s awesome to get the Brown town back together like we did today. Can’t wait for next weeks reunion!
