Can you hear me now?

Audio week was a little more difficult and time consuming because I had to get used to GarageBand and Audacity, as well as explore new outlets to work with. I worked with my group on our project a bit though and made a banner for our group, as well as a commercial we may be able to use in our radio show.

For my first assignment this week I got into the Halloween mood with my spooky sounds audio track. Keeping with the Halloween mood I did a voiceover after creating a cool, creepy beat for my second assignment. Lauren Brumfield and I worked together to dramatically read both sides of the song “Space Oddity” for the dramatic song reading assignment, which we made really fun and different. I made a commercial of product placement of the games of chess and checkers and their larger representation of the “game” in the Wire as well.

I made my first ever radio bumper for a daily create and as practice for the group project bumpers I’m sure I will do. My second daily create was writing a misleading mashup of the Wire and Game of Thrones.

I did a separate post on the Wire this week to fit everything in. I loved the commentary on the Wire this week because it was so informative. I felt episode 12 was really strong, particularly visually, and season 3 is already looking mighty interesting! Season three is shaping up to be a stalemate between McNulty and Stringer again and I find the way the police were portrayed in the episode very interesting.

This week was tough but I learned a lot about audio and how to use it. Hopefully this little training week helps me help my group for our radio project.
