Digital Storytelling, what does the term “Digital” mean in Digital Storytelling?

Reading the chapter “Web 2.0 Storytelling” from Bryan Alexander’s book The New Digital Storytelling was quite interesting to me. What I think of the term “Digital” mean in Digital Storytelling is like for an example, all storytellers are basically creating their stories with all types of the social media that are available to them that they can use and are interacting. All of the storytellers are taking whatever digital sources we are using everyday and manipulating them to invent something thrilling and amazing. I never knew people who uses their blogs make posts of fictional stories that is taking in real places and by real people. I thought it was nonfiction but it’s what it says in the chapter.

I was like “Wait what?” but that’s kind of cool. About The Wire from Tumblr and Facebook, I don’t think it’s correlates to Digital Storytelling. It’s basically showing pictures and GIFs only. It doesn’t have someone talking and telling us about it. Although both Facebook and Tumblr don’t correlate to The Wire, I think Facebook is a less representation of the Web 2.0 Storytelling. They are more of a marketing thing like clicking on ads and others etc.
