As you all know, we are required to write about our progress with our radio show. Well, i shouldn’t say required because it has really helped me! Just to give everyone another idea of what our show is about, the big theme is “The Science Behind The Wire”. Since both Ien and John are physics majors, this seemed like the smart route. Now let’s see what we’re doing!

Meet-up

Last week: Me, john, and ien met up in Jepson to talk about the show. I already knew that it would be about the science behind the wire. There’s so much science behind it so basically i needed a clarification on what exactly we would be discussing. Well, Ien and John told me that their main focus would be on the wire taps and surveillance. I mean, that’s almost all of the show, including the title. Since John and Ien are more scientifically advanced than i am, they decided that they would go into details about the wire taps and video surveillance. Just as a heads up, Jeremy couldn’t make it but we’ve kind of assigned his job. What my role in the radio show is, how does the wire taps and the science tie into the show. Well, i figured what i would be doing is looking back at important scenes that involved all this science and show how important it is. The development of technology and how important it is to learn how to use it. Specifically with season 1 the show focused on phone taps. That evolved into so much more. In season 2, the show was also about wire taps but more importantly the computer taps and learning the system the docks used. All of this is still a little rough but since i don’t have classes on Thursday, that’s when i’m really going to dig into this a lot more. I’ve been re-watching some episodes so i can analyze further how important these wire taps and videos have been to the show

Additions

The whole group has made some good contributions to the show, especially Ien with his bumpers and all. Like required, i completed a promo poster. In addition to that, during week 7, i made two commercials that i intend to use for the show. I want to create a bumper also because i haven’t really mastered that. We’re also in the process of creating a google doc to work on.

Issues

I think the biggest issue we’ve had is fall break. It really made it difficult to communicate with people and to organize our plans. But that’s not anyone’s fault specifically. I’ve been talking back and forth with John on trying to communicate with Jeremy and Ien. I haven’t seen or heard of Jeremy since he was added to the group. Everyone has different schedules and meeting up has been the biggest issue. We all plan on meeting Thursday so hopefully this will clear everything up and head everyone in the right direction.

Hopefully this gives everyone an  idea of where we’re headed and how we’re doing!
