DS106 Radio Show Planning

This week I opened a Google Doc for planning the radio show with my group. At first we were confused on whether or not we had to include the audio content we made this week in our radio show, but after clarifying, we started to bounce some ideas off of each other on what to discuss during our radio show. Brittany had a great idea of discussing certain recurring themes in The Wire which I thought was a great idea!

We haven’t decided on a group name yet, but once everyone returns from Fall Break, I’m excited for the group to come together and really start collaborating! I’ve already created my Wire106 Radio logo for the project:

Daily Creates (2)

I was both sad and relieved (weird combination, huh?) that this week’s Daily Create assignments were so short. I was a little sad because I enjoy how creative I get to be with the Daily Create assignments, but I was relieved because I had a HUGE pile of work from all my classes to get done by the weekend. Luckily I was able to knock these Daily Creates out at the beginning of the week to get everything else done. Take a look at my Daily Create assignments here.

Audio Assignments (10 stars)

Overcoming Audio Editing Fears
I was so excited with my finished DS106 Radio Bumper! This was my first time using a YouTube tutorial (or any sound tutorial for that matter) to edit an audio clip on Audacity. There were about 6 different clips involved in creating this short 13 second radio bumper, but I think the effects sound great! Take a listen below, or click the link above to read my full reflection.

Reverse Blues
My fellow DS106ers who keep up with The Wire might find this Reverse Audio Quiz a little easy, but I just had to use this song! Its bluesy sound is so deep and relaxing. Try to guess the song with the hints, or just listen below:

“A Man’s Got to Have a Code.”
This audio assignment was challenging, but I love the finished product! It required a lot of searching for songs and clipping, but the effort you put forth definitely pays off when you’re listening to the finished clip. Listen to how I mixed and matches different song clips to recite a quote from The Wire below:
