Third Time is a Charm, Right?

Ladies, and Gentleman, we have made it through another week!

I’m not gonna lie, last weekend’s post sucked @$$, and now it is time to make up for that. This has been a busy week for all of us, but hopefully you’ll get maybe a couple of chuckles (or something else, I don’t know) from this post. Enough of my rambling, lets get down to some official business, starting with.

Thoughts on The Wire

S1E13 – I thought this was a fitting way to wrap up the first season. I specifically like that they also brought in enough additional scenes that elude to yet another awesome season. Oh, and let’s not forget that we got to see Omar again, which hopefully means we’ll be seeing more of him shooting up people (gotta love that renegade). The biggest change in this episode that was actually really cool was the character development of each person show as they were returned back to their original positions, or they were placed in newer positions. I even got a chuckle when I saw McNulty reassigned to boat duty. The whole court scene left me with a weird feeling though; a lot of Avon’s men ended up in jail, but it did not seem like their sentence was as bad as it should have been (I was expecting life or something like that). However, now the outside operation is left to Stringer Bell, which seems even worse. What I mean by that, is that Stringer seems to be about his business, and he also seemed to cover his tracks better than everyone else (after all, he was one of the only high, ranking, gang member to not end up in jail). Lastly, I still felt bad for Quima; she had a longing look as that final cop car passed by the hospital.

S2E01 – Now this was a good beginning, but it raised one main question for me: How long had it been since Season 1, I did not really have a good idea of that. Anyways, if I had to give this episode a title, it would be “New Beginnings.” The first episode did a good job of showing where everyone was in their life since season 1. The bad thing about it, is that most of the main character seemed to really dislike where they were, with the exception of Lester (beats the pawn shop unit). It was also good to see that they began to develop what is going to happen to the Barksdale Organization. I was surprised to see them with so much “luxury” in their cells, but at the same time, it seems they have a real jack@$$ of a guard monitoring them. I am curious to see how D’Angelo and Avon work things out between them. After all, they may be family, but his boy did testify against them; I know he has to be somewhat sour over that. This episode also introduced some new characters, which I am very curious to see how they develop over time. Lastly, they confirmed Omar will be back (get that shotty ready)!

S2E02 – So I enjoyed seeing more character development, and I also see McNulty is still up to his usual stuff. He is still pissing people off and sticking his nose where it does not belong. It is good to see that they have just as dark and eerie of a plot as last season (seriously, a crate full of dead women is just grim). I can see that the plot is building up quickly, and hopefully we’ll see all the crew back together. Unfortunately, that is really all I have to say about this episode, I still have a lot of undecideds to ponder about.

Assignments, Assignments, Assignments

Well, I’ve been focusing on The Wire this week, and that is what I’ve done for my assignments. On the top is a Triple Troll picture. Here is what I had to say about that:

I really wanted to use a picture of Omar for this assignment, so I remembered this picture from S1E13. For whatever reason, I decided to use one of the lines that the judge said to McNulty. I then thought that it might would appear that this is a believable line if I attached Avon’s name to it. That is how this picture came into being. Unfortunately, I was not able to find a really clear image (if anyone does know where I can find this particular image, let me know so I can redo it). I really like this… I’m not sure why…

Next up was a creative mashup writing assignment:

Well this was interesting to do! This is a picture for the Creative Mashup. The Wire picture comes from S2E01, and the painting is Getrude Stein by Pablo Picasso. Truth be told, I’m not even certain why I chose this picture from the wire. I was looking for anything having to do with McNulty looking at something (it might just be me, but he looks at things strangely… in a kind of funny way). Then I figured I should find a painting that would be looking back at him, and blamo! We have this picture!

Lastly I made a Renegade Teacher picture, centering around The Wire:

Okay, this one pretty much wrote itself. I remember seeing this yesterday and thought this would be a good picture! I wanted to do something a bit more vulgar for the writing, but I figured I should keep it clean. This scene stuck out to me as it it showed a darker side of a character that was seen in Season 1, but there was not much explanation into this character’s personality.

I actually rather enjoyed these assignments, which is much different than how I thought about this assignment before I did it! It was really cool, and I am very glad I did these. Although, I must admit, finding specific pictures from episodes was rather difficult. If anyone knows a website where I can grab screenshots (good ones) let me know!

Now, on to some more material.

Doin’ my Dailies!!!

Zero things come to mind.
Since thinking in z’s is not in mind.
Zebra’s dancing is what I think.
Since zebra starts with “z” I think.
Zero things come to mind.
Since thinking comes from the strangest mind.

This was a really weird set of Daily Creates over the past few days. Mathematical signs, poetry, and self-help tips. I am bad at all of those! Yet some how, some how, I managed to pull off something for them, and you know what? I am really proud of how well they managed to turn out. Here’s what I had to say about the pictures (the tip really explains itself):

Poetry –  I am not a poet, for that matter, I can’t even rhyme! When I saw today’s daily create, I thought this was the weirdest assignment that I had ever seen when regarding poems. Now I’d really like to see someone come up with something really cool.

Emblem – For some odd reason, when I think of pie-r-squared, I think of Pie and a railroad crossing sign. I probably think of this because r r is the same as r^2. Just a random thought on it; I know it probably is not too original.

These were weird, but fun.

Last on the week’s results:

WORDPRESS WORK!!!!

Okay, someone needs a video or tutorial on how to rearrange stuff on these sites! I managed to get a framework up, but I have been unable to move everything to its right page. Even arranging the framework seemed like a pain. Did anyone else have certain pages become sub-pages, and then have them unable to be moved out of a sub-page. I really detest the UI for arranging stuff. Thankfully, everything else worked pretty well. I still need to remember that I have known to post updates. Furthermore, sorry if I don’t use Twitter all that much; compared to the rest of my generation, I really don’t use social media (20 weeks since I checked facebook). Anyways, that’s what I have to say about that.

Well, that’s the end of the week.

Is this kind of post better for you all or did I still miss the mark?

Let me know what you think!!!
