This was another great week in DS106 for me. I think I love the audio assignments the most out of any other assignment group. I feel that it allows me to be able to express myself in a way that the other assignments don’t. Lets take a look at my work for the week.
Radio Show Logo:
For this assignment I volunteered to create the logo for may Audio Group. We decided that we would name our group 76.5. So after that I thought about how other radio stations usually have letters at the beginning of their name and I decided that the DSTW would work well because of Digital Storytelling and The Wire. I used the Aviary and PicsArt apps on my phone to create this logo. I hope you like it.
Daily Creates:

I enjoyed both of these daily creates. When I first saw the daily create about guinea pigs I chuckled. So when I thought about doing mine I thought to myself that I want people to chuckle when they see my picture. I used the Aviary app on my phone to edit this picture.
For the not so description of The Wire I decided to turn the wire into a comedy. I wanted to do it in a way that didn’t actually take away from the actual show. I centered the show round the Barksdale family and had a little play on the police’s wire taps. I tried to incorporate others but not in such a direct way. Read it and let me know what you thought.

This week’s episodes of The Wire were probably some of my favorite so far. It started with episode 12 and how I felt the episode was centered around more emotion that words. There were a lot of times where I was looking at characters expressions and not necessarily listening to what they were saying. There was a lot of tension in that episode so I didn’t write about what was happening in the show only how the show was put together. I loved the commentary and feel like I learned how to watch the episodes more carefully. Everything they were saying about the way the directors and producers incorporated messages into the episodes blew my mind. I literally don’t look for those things when I’m watching the show so that will be a big takeaway. I enjoyed the first episode of season three and felt that it continued with the intensity from season two and was a great way to start the season. Take a look at my posts about the episodes and let me know what you think.
Audio Assignments:
Dramatic Reading:
So-and-So’s Greatest Hits:
Row Row Polyphony:
Imitate Some Weather:
This week’s audio assignments were fun. I enjoyed using Audacity and feel like I’m starting to understand the software better. For the dramatic reading I did my favorite song which is “Survival Tactics” by Joey Bada$$ and Capital STEEZ. It wasn’t really hard because I’m getting so used to Audacity. I downloaded some background music and tried to incorporate a little spoken word into my voice as I was reading the lyrics. I liked the finished product so much that I had to listen to it at least 5 – 10 times before I uploaded it and made a post. For the So-and-So’s Greatest Hits I used my favorite rap group Pro Era. I took five of my favorite songs and cut verses out using audacity. I had so much fun and loved the way I faded the verses in and out. The Row Row Polyphony was fun. I had the hardest time getting the tracks to line up perfectly. I wasn’t satisfied for at least 20 – 30 minutes. So I sat there moving the tracks back and forth. After I finally got that finished I was done and happy with the finished product. The weather imitation wasn’t that hard. The worst part was trying to actually sound like weather. I decided to do wind and think I did a fairly decent job. Listen to them and let me know what you thought.
This week was a lot of fun. Like I said, I enjoy doing the audio assignments because I feel like I’m becoming one with the Audacity. I hope we get to do more audio. The Wire never fails to amuse and interest me so I’ll happily continue to watch. Take a look a my work from this week and let me know what you think.
