“Step Into My Box”

The ninth episode of the fourth season of The Wire was really interesting. It has continued a great trend and I can’t wait for the rest of the episodes. One of the things that stuck out to me was the evolution of Kima’s character throughout the show. She started off with McNulty on the front line doing everything she could trying to take down the Barksdale gang. Knowing what she has been through with all of the up close and personal stuff, it’s just really interesting that now she is more in the background. I think and this could be totally wrong, but I think the whole homicide unit is in the background and doesn’t get as much shine as the major crime unit. I feel for Kima because I feel like even though she is being paid well at her new job, she has lost a lot that she can’t regain. I hope she is able to get something out of all of her hard work. The other thing from this episode that stood out to me was the Pilot Program evening dinner. I wanted the kids to have a good time while not being in their usual environment and hoped that the dinner would be a success. It was sad to watch them transition back to what they’re used to all because they were taken out of their comfort zone. I guess that’s all you can expect because it’s all they’ve ever known. Hopefully they can change and their future’s will begin to look brighter.
