“Ain’t No Half-Steppin’ ’round Me”

I really enjoyed the 10th episode of the fourth season of The Wire. It was a very interesting episode that me made me think about a lot. One of the things that stuck with me was Namond and his mom. Not just this one situation, but the whole case. I know what life the Mom is used to but it just seems to me that she is trying to force Namond to live the way that his father lived when he was coming up. Of course Namond wants to act hard but he’s only a child he. It’s obvious that he doesn’t really want to live the street life because he’s not built for it. I see Namond wanting to be a better person and wanting to be successful in life and I think that his mom is only holding him back. She is going to have the most influence over his life at the moment because his father is not there. I just don’t think it’s fair to Namond and I really want  to see him change and be a better person. The other thing that stood out to me was Bodie and how loyal he is to Marlo. It’s crazy because there are so many ways that you could look at the situation. One of those ways is you could see Bodie as a trader because he’s working under someone else other than the Barksdales. Or you could view it as him trying to make a living because he has nothing else going for him. It’s sad that that’s what it comes down to when you’re thinking about someone’s life.
