Inspiration and Radio

Whoa. Week 9 is already done? Ds 106 has been flying by. Like Groom said in his weekly assignment post, we focused on inspiration and the radio shows this week! Compared to the previous weeks, this week was a lot less stressful. I enjoyed looking back on our work and see what inspired us. Also, our radio shows airing was a total plus. We spent so much time working on those and now they can appreciated! Here’s what went down:

Inspire:

For the inspiration portion of this week, we had to go back and find three works that inspire us and post them on the DS106 Inspire page. This was a little confusing because i didn’t know what this site was for. After reading the goal of the website, i went searching for my inspiration. It wasn’t too hard, actually! I’ve been inspired a lot.

Inspiration #1:

My first inspiration was Brittany’s Color photo. In my post i describe how this inspired me here. I loved this assignment and especially her creation. I titled my post focus point because the softball in the picture is the focal point. It was the perfect object to add color to. It’s what inspired me to do my own version.

Brittany’s:

Mine:

Inspiration #2:

In my post here, i discuss my second inspiration which was John’s “Where Are They Now” post. This assignment was really fun and it brought out my creativity side. Allowing myself to think out of the box was interesting and relaxing. The assignment itself was creative!

Mine: It’s a whole blogpost here!

McNulty the Rocker

Inspiration #3:

My final (technically) inspiration was Jessica’s “Cheap Sunglasses” assignment. This inspired me in two separate ways: i love music and the colors she used were great. It looked as if an official designer made this. To me, that’s hard to do. But, that’s just how great it was! I didn’t create my own version because it was too difficult. I was inspired nonetheless!

Radio Shows:

Tweeting

Our next assignment was to listen on a radio show live and tweet about it. I couldn’t make the first day of radio shows, which included my own, so on Wednesday i tuned in. I was interested in the “Wirebuyers” show because the name was weird. Not in a bad way, though! On my separate post here, i talk a little bit more about the live tweeting. It was a great way for me to give direct feedback to the group. Most members were also tweeting so i got a couple favorites from them on my tweets. It was also fun to see how other classmates reacted to the show. surprisingly, we all had similar to reactions. Here are some of my tweets!

Reaction:

On the same post here, i talk about the show “Wirebuyers” in general. I give my reactions, my notes, and overall review. This show was so well produced i was shocked. Like i mention in my post, i was confused at first when there were only songs and commercials but later i caught on. My favorite part of this whole show was how they took scenes from the show and mused them for commercials. I think this was a brilliant way to connect the show to the radio show. I go on to praise them on this. My only concern was informing the audience that the show would only be commercials and songs. But that’s not even necessary because there are no rules that you to talk for the show! I can’t express how awesome this show was. LISTEN TO IT!

Daily Create

For Week 9, we only had to do 2 daily creates. The only challenging part of this was which two daily creates to pick! So, here were the winners.

Monday: The Spine Book Of You

For Monday’s Daily Create, you had to create a title of a book that would be your life. I wanted to include something that was a part of me and also something that has shaped me. I chose my ethnicity and my love for music. My book title would be “Half&HalfIndie”. In my post, i discuss why i chose this. For the Half&Half part, i love coffee. But the real reason i chose that was because i’m half American and half Bolivian. So, that works! The second part, “Indie” describes my taste in music. Music has connected me to so many people and has made me who i am today! So, check out my post here for more!

Thursday: Make a Winter Drawing

Thursday’s Daily Create was CREATIVE. I finally get to draw again! These tend to be my favorite daily creates because i rarely draw and this gives me an excuse. So, for this drawing daily create, you had to draw a picture of winter. Like most people, i associate winter with the holidays. So for my picture i drew a Christmas Tree with presents underneath and snow falling. On my post i get a little cheesy and talk more about Christmas but here’s my drawing!

Tdc 1019

The Wire:

This week we had to watch episodes 5,6,7 of season 3. I’m getting real interested in how this show is progressing. I want to sum up each episode with a phrase, so here we go!

Ep5: AVON IS BACK!!!!!!

Ep6: AVON REPS HIS TERRITORY

EP7:BYE MCNULTY!

Now, i know you’re thinking these are short. They are. But they’re effective, right!??! RIGHT.

Commenting:

Like i’ve said in my previous weekly summaries, commenting is hard. Well, it’s hard to remember! For me, i always get caught up in my work and look at others and forget that when i think “nice job!” i should comment that instead. So, i worked on my commenting skills and commented on 10 different blogs like Groom asked. Here they are!

-I really enjoyed looking at Amy’s inspire post here

-Stef chose an inspiration that i was going to use!

-I loved the recreation of this. It was impressive.

-Jessica”s inspire post was impressive!

-Brittany went into great detail with her reflection on the show

-Lauren’s glow photo was pretty and caught my attention

This daily create was also pretty and unique.

– Ien went into nice detail with his radio reflection here.

– La Kisha did the same daily create as me and her snowflake was cute!

This inspire post was creative and it made me look back it. I guess i missed it the first time!
