Week 5 Summary

The Wire was really interesting this week. I have never liked McNulty (just in case I have never said that before on my blog) but his story line is becoming more interesting as his life seems to spin more and more out of control. I paid more attention to how the shots were composed in The Wire. I noticed a lot of transitional shots that were interesting, like panning along a wall or bookcase before coming to the next character or scene. It makes the transitions between different scenes more interesting and less confusing and abrupt.

This week, I started off strong by getting all of my visual assignments done in one day, plus doing one daily create. I did the album cover assignment (2 stars), the rainbow showcase assignment (3 1/2 stars), the imaginary places assignment (3 stars), and the colorize it assignment (1 star). I also wanted to do one assignment but it wasn’t exactly what I wanted to do, so I created and submitted a new assignment, using Knightlab’s Story Map, and made my story map (4 stars) of my study abroad trip. I had so much fun doing all of the visual assignments this week. I have already had a lot of experience with photoshop, so most of the assignments were really fast and easy and fun for me to work on.

I live tweeted season 2 episode 6 of The Wire on Tuesday night, which was really interesting. Without sound, most of the strong emotions still came through, it was just the details that were missing. It was easier to notice body language, colors, camera angles, etc. though.

For my photoblitz assignment, I took all of my pictures (in 20 minutes as directed) in my apartment and had a lot of fun taking all of the pictures.

I did two daily creates this week: one for 9/23 and 9/25
