Weekly Summary 3: End of the Prequel Trilogy

Another week gone by way faster than I anticipated. I feel bad for cramming so many posts over these last two days. But i still feel like I got a lot done!

I made 3 daily creates that I am quite proud of. From poetry to math, I put way more effort into these creative projects than I have into anything recently in my life. So here they are!

In addition, I’ve also worked on three creative assignments from three different categories pertaining to The Wire.

I even made my own where I analyzed the colors of the rainbow in the season 1 finale. I then made some Magic the Gathering style trading cards to keep track of some of the newcomers of season 2. And finally, my favorite, I created a sort of mock trailer that details one of the saddest scenes in season 1, and the aftermath on one of its main characters. All in all I would say this was a very good week in terms of actual creative output!

Last night I had the chance to read Bryan Alexander’s chapter on Web 2.0 storytelling, and shared my initial thoughts and reactions here. I love the idea of using multiple online media to show off art or tell a story, and I hope that I can experience something similar with this blog. As time passes I find myself checking the wire106 hub more and more frequently to see what other classmates have created for the class. It’s crazy the kind of stuff that people can churn out. Not just Wire related pieces, but small things like poems, website logos, and music all impress me.

As for The Wire, I’m loving season 2 so far. It’s impressive how much can shift in terms of storylines between seasons while still maintaining much of the core ensemble from before. As the plot develops and changes, I hope to see other people’s creative works change as well to reflect. But there’s still plenty of episodes left to go to see how it all works out.

Until next week, this is your captain signing off!
