Another week down and it was not much easier. The amount of time I am putting into this class is unbelievable. I think it is safe to say I am putting more time into this class than I am into other 4 classes combined (which are all 300 and above level). We were given the warning and I took the challenge.
The week started out well and very productive. Early in the week I completed a lot of assignments but then it slowed down. Friday I was distracted by the Dierks Bentley concert and Saturday I spent the first half of my day laying on the couch watching football. I was ready to grind out the work today until I had an unexpected trip to the hospital. Three hrs later, 4 stitches, and a swollen lip that feels enormous I am finishing up the work I started.

My Daily Creates:

• The Light That Was Closing In – My story of an adventure I had back in high school. Seeing the picture of the train coming through the tunnel instantly reminded me of my adventure. It is fun to remember experiences I had from high school and even better since I didn’t get hurt. If you read my story I hope you enjoyed it.
•  I also made a lune poem. If you don’t know what a foam roller is you need to by one. It feels so good to roll any sore muscle on it. It hurts at first but feels GREAT in the end. I decided to make this poem because on that specific day my back was extremely sore and I couldn’t stop thinking about rolling my back out.

• My last daily create was the mathematical expression using pictures. I chose circumference because no one else had done it yet.

My Assignments:

I feel like relating all of the assignments to The Wire is tough and it makes me create different ideas. Many times I read an assignment and had an initial idea of what to do but then I couldn’t figure how to relate it to the wire.

• Tap Tap Tap – My first assignment was “What Wanders Outside Your Window?” I read this one right after I watched the last episode of season 1. Hearing that Wee-Bey was the actual gunman that killed Deirdre I thought it was a perfect fit for this assignment. Using photoshop (for the first time) to create the image was extremely difficult. I put a lot of time into trying to figure it out and make it perfect but I thought it turned out ok. Not the best photoshop but good enough.
• An Unforgetable Name – Another assignment I completed was writing about your name or what is in a name. As all may know I have a pretty funny name. This assignment goes through the different aspects of my life that my last name gave me trouble or benefited me.
• My final assignment this week was creating a business card for a bad guy. Well I did for a bad crew. The Barksdale Crew. Although I highly doubt they would ever pass out a business card, if they did this would be the one. I included a coded pager number using the code they used the actual number I used was one that was on a screenshot from an episode. First I used word and made a text box to have my outline of the card. Then I used WordArt to create the words. It took me a little while to figure out a good clean slogan for them but I think it is a decent one while keeping it G rated.

The Episodes

I wanted to do a write up this week on each of the three episode but I could not find the time this week to complete that. Overall season 1 was great and the beginning of season 2 is good. I was a little confused at first on why they were all of a sudden at the boat docks of Baltimore. I did not understand how they were going to incorporate that in with the drug trafficking but with a little research I found out each season is about a different aspect of Baltimore that is corrupt. It’s sad to see D’Angelo turning to drugs in the prison because I thought he was the only good one out of the hole crew. I am to the point where I want to keep watching the next episode but I do not want to get too far ahead of what we are suppose to be watching because then it may affect what I do for the assignments and all.

Engaging with the class

I have tried to be better at commenting on other peoples posts but I don’t know if I am doing it enough to make sure I get credit for it. I definitely need to be better with tweeting throughout the week but it goes back to needing to manage my time between all of my classes and assignments.

In the end week 3 is in the books and is history. I can learn from my mistakes during the week and realize that I cannot take any days off from this class. Let’s see how next week goes and what new things I will have to do.
